Dr Jane Horan PhD, MA, BA (First Class Hons)

Jane is an applied economic anthropologist with a subject speciality in the cross-cultural analysis of gender. A highly experienced social researcher who designs and executes multifaceted and multimodality research projects, she works within Play CoLab in understanding the anthropology of organisations.

Jane has taught courses at the University of Auckland on organisational culture, anthropological perspectives on gender, and economic anthropology.  As a social scientist, she is continually orientated by these bigger structural forces that are at play both locally and globally. These include evolving dynamics around gender as a technology of power, and how this intersects with class, and processes of othering, including racism, as well as prevailing economic systems, colonisation and the impact that this has on inequity and political trends across APAC and globally.

She is based in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland and is also learning te reo Māori, the language of the indigenous people of Aotearoa New Zealand.
